The gift of prophesy is the God-given ability to communicate a message from God in relation to truth already revealed.

Verses to consider:

  • Jude 3

  • 1 Corinthians 14:3

You may have the gift of prophecy if:

  • you are able to distinguish between what is good and what is bad

  • you are able to identify a person’s character in the light of biblical truth

  • your heart breaks over the sin in people’s lives and your desire is to see people grow in their relationship with Christ

  • you can recognize when a call for repentance is needed and you’re not afraid to proclaim it

  • you see the Bible as the foundation of truth

  • you hold to a high standard of integrity

  • you realize your own shortcomings through self-examination

  • you not only strive to strongly communicate what you perceive in God’s word, but you strive to live according to that truth in your own life

At the same time, if you have the gift of prophesy:

  • you may run the risk of becoming to judgmental and confrontational

  • you may become so interested in the spiritual growth of others that you are perceived as being pushy

  • you may struggle with self-image
